Will Holt, Minister of Discipleship

Hi there! I am Will Holt, the Minister of Discipleship at Etowah UMC. I was born and raised in Eastman, GA, a place where people brake for deer crossings and boiled peanuts. In my early 20s I moved to the north Georgia mountains to finish my undergraduate degree in sociology at North Georgia University in Dahlonega, GA.
As a student, I felt the call to ministry and began working at a summer youth missions organization called TEAMeffort. I spent seven years working in the TEAMeffort office (and a total of eight summers, 2006-13) working across the United States and the Caribbean leading youth on mission trips and directing college students to fulfill their ministry. It was during my years at TEAMeffort that I met my spouse, Christina, and we have been married since December 2011.
In 2013, I began my three-year study at Duke Divinity School for a Master’s of Divinity while serving at local nonprofits and churches. Upon graduating, I took a ministry position at Holly Springs UMC as a children’s and youth director and contemporary music minister.
I began my position as Minister of Discipleship at Etowah UMC in September 2017. My wife, Christina, and I love the western NC mountains, which reminds us of the adventures we had when we first started dating while living in the north Georgia mountains. We feel right at home here at Etowah UMC with everyone’s sincere hospitality and love for Jesus.
